“It’s always a pleasure to Play golf on the championship Tropics layout in Townsville”
The Tropics golf course has come a long way in the past few years. New owners have implemented a plan to restore the course to it’s former glory. And it’s working. This is a true championship golf course and the brilliant design makes it playable for the everyday golfer as well as the traveling professional.
This is a very enjoyable golf course to play as every hole is unique. Other than the par 3’s all other holes have fairways that bend to some extent. Adding in a number of water hazards and bunkers this makes for a very interesting but rewarding game of golf.
The par 5 second hole is a favourite of ours to play. At 432m it is quite a short par 5 but there in lies the enjoyment of risk and reward. The fairway is a sort of elongated S shape with water all the way down the left. A great tee shot give the longer hitters an iron into the green. Even mid range handicappers have a great chance of reaching the green in 2 shots. The green itself is guarded by long bunkers on the left and right and also water further left. If you can keep your ball in play you will be rewarded with a great score.
Note – there is at least one resident crocodile on the course. This crocodile has been here for a number of years and is still growing. Before playing golf be sure to check with the pro shop for updates and advice.
