The first thing you notice when you play Torquay golf course is the manicured wide fairways and the sweeping views beyond. This undulating sand based layout is a golfing pleasure and its easy to see why it is ranked highly amongst Australia’s best. The greens are large and playfully undulating while the tee boxes are expertly maintained.
The links style layout has many great holes to play but our pick would be the short par three 12th hole. At just 128 metres in length this hole plays a little longer with the green set high on one of the many undulations. The view from the tee makes the green look like it is sitting on the horizon. The first thing you see is a cavernous bunker guarding the front and another to the left. The play here is to choose a longer club to ensure you avoid the sand. Once on the green you may have a lengthy putt but this will give you time to enjoy one of the best vantage points to view this wonderful golf course and beyond.
