“Play golf at Royal Hobart – Arguably Tasmania’s finest golf course”

Always in impeccable condition Royal Hobart continually remains one of the finest golf courses to play in Australia. Jack Nicklaus famously won the Australian Open here in 1971. Set amongst towering trees this superb layout is pure golfing pleasure. The tees and fairways are excellently maintained and the large greens are the most truest you will find.

There are many great golfing holes to play here. Our favourite on the first nine is the short par four 7th hole. At just 309m long most players are thinking this is a great chance to make a birdie. The fairway is wide and inviting but if you miss it with your drive then you face a difficult shot from the rough. Best chance to make a good score here is to be sure your approach to the green is from the fairway. The green itself slopes off in all directions and is guarded by two bunkers to the right.

On the back nine the short 127m par three 11th hole is a gem. Playable for all levels of golfers the centre of this green should be everyone’s target. Any breeze here can make this rather easy par 3 much more difficult as the green is surrounded by no less than six bunkers.

The Royal Hobart golf course is fun to play but hard to master – a true trait of any great golf course.
