If ever there was an idyllic place to play golf then Howlong would surely be a contender. Great teeing beds, smooth flat fairways and excellent greens on which to play your perfect game of golf.
Playing of the back tees the par 3 8th hole looks straight forward at first sight but can be a real challenge depending on the pin placement. Playing your tee shot through the narrow opening of trees is the first thing to negotiate. Next is to land on a green that diagonally shaped from left to right. When the pin is placed at the back right the challenge is to fly the bunker which follows the shape of the green on the right hand side.
The par 4 18th hole is another highlight on the Howlong golfing layout. At 349m the length is not intimidating but combine the water hazard down the right hand side and a fairway that slightly bends to the left makes for an interesting tee shot. Accurate placement on the fairway here can provide a great birdie opportunity. What a great way to finish.
The highly regarded Howlong Golf Resort is host to the annual Murray Masters Golf tournament. So if the local region plays here then that in itself is a big tick for this golfing paradise.
