“Enjoy great conditions in a park-like setting when you play Gailes golf course”
Play golf at Gailes picturesque golfing layout. Not only is this a beautiful looking course it is also designed for championship events. In fact Gailes is one of the very few Queensland golf courses that has hosted an Australian Open golf championship and Australian Senior Open golf championship. Yet Gailes is still very playable and enjoyable for any level of golfer.
The park-like undulating layout has many fairways lined with native Australian eucalypts. There are also a few tee blind tee shots where you see your ball disappear over fairway ridges. For first time players at Gailes this experience is normally met with delight after finding your drive has advanced further than you thought due to the downhill runs on the other side of the ridges. The conditions here are normally excellent with well manicured fairways and greens that have been lovingly cared for.
One of our favourite holes to play at Gailes is the short 276 metre par four 17th hole. The distance from tee to green wouldn’t intimidate too many long hitters but this hole defends itself by having out of bounds to the left and four very large greenside bunkers. Two bunkers guarding the front and one each on either side of the green. For most golfers this hole provides an opportunity to use a short iron approach shot to setup a great birdie chance. Everyone loves a Birdie!
