Play golf at Southport, the first golf course to be established on the Gold Coast. Long been revered as the Coast’s premier golfing club, Southport is continuously improving it’s layout to uphold its very proud tradition.
With the nearby towering skyscrapers in the background the Southport golf course’s tree lined fairways meander there way around a number of ponds, lakes and majestic sub-tropical vegetation. The greens run so smooth and true and are equal to the best of any course on the Gold Coast.
GolfAway’s favourite hole to play at Southport is definitely the beautifully designed 159 metre par three 14th. Depending on which tee is in use and the pin position this hole can range from being reasonably easy to quite a challenge. Water is very much in mind from the tee as there is a small lake which runs up the right from tee to green. The angled green has a clear opening at the front but guarded by a large scalloped bunker over the back and a small bunker to the front left ready to catch the so called ‘safe’ tee shot. This is a real gem of a golfing hole that plays differently every time we visit.
