We here at GolfAway believe Duntryleage in Orange is one of our country’s most majestic golf courses. Stunning trees line the undulating fairways with beautiful vistas in all directions. Add this to the impeccable way that the tees, greens and fairways are presented make Duntryleague one of the ultimate stay and play golfing destinations in rural Australia.
There are plenty of highlights on the course and some very enticing golfing holes. The 328 metre par 4 8th hole is not only a pretty looking hole to play but is probably the best opportunity for a birdie. Standing on the tee you look straight down a wide, tree lined fairway, to a large green surrounded by majestic cedar trees. Longer players can get close to the green while most of us regular golfers will have a mid to short iron approach shot. Other than a large gum tree on the right hand side, which may block your second shot, there is a real chance of a great score here.
On the back nine the 15th hole is a beaut. This 388 metre par 4 plays all of its distance. The fairway width is generous and tree lined but has an ever so slight dogleg to the right. The play here is keep you tee shot on the left hand side of the fairway to have any direct line of sight to the flag. The L shape green is the quite small and is guarded by two deepish bunkers. A par here is like gold.
