Play golf at Swan Hill’s only local course at Murray Downs Golf & Country Club. Set amongst one of the most scenic parts of the Murray River Region this full championship golfing layout has been rated as the best golf course in the region for nearly twenty years. Now that in itself is high praise indeed!
This slightly undulating course is such a pleasure to play. The immaculate fairways are bordered by majestic river gums and the large greens are pure heaven. Water comes into play on some holes while the sculptured bunkering here is quite a feature.
The signature hole at Murray Downs must surely be to the spectacular 194 metre par three 5th hole. There is good reason why this is rated the hardest hole on the golf course. Most of the 194 metres is a water carry to a large peanut shell shaped green surrounded by a plethora of equally large bunkers. For the faint hearted there is a bailout area to the left of the lake but even this still requires a shot over water. GolfAway rates this as one of the best par three’s on the Murray River.
